Rating Scale:
1 = unsatisfactory 3 = more than satisfactory
2 = satisfactory 4 = exceptionally good
Criteria:
A) The essays are designed to persuade. When mandated by the assignments, the essays propose a clear, arguable thesis and present a sustained case for it.

C) The essays are clear. They convey their meaning through carefully chosen words in sentences and paragraphs that can be easily followed by a good reader.

thoroughness in collecting all the evidence relevant to the issue at hand,
care to present it accurately, and deftness in molding it into a cogent,
persuasive case.
